RTI is typically a three-tiered approach to meet students’ academic and behavioral needs. Tier 1 involves the proactive identification of struggling students and allows for flexible grouping and differentiated instruction tomeet their needs. During Tier 2, students receive additional small-group or individual instruction on critical skills. The duration of each tier and the structure of the service models may vary among school districts.
